Design Forward: Innovations in Practice

  • Tulane School of Architecture Richardson Memorial Hall New Orleans, LA 70118 (map)

Design Forward: Innovations in Practice is a continuing education conference hosted by Women in Architecture New Orleans, a subcommittee of AIA New Orleans, in partnership with Tulane School of Architecture.

During this full day event on Friday, October 18, 2013, panelists from a wide variety of architecture and allied design professions, locally and nationally, will discuss strategies for a successful architecture practice. Panels will include Negotiation + Communication skills, innovative Design + Process, and the importance of Leadership + Diversity. The conference aims to provide meaningful conversation about design and practice from firms around the country and locally. Julie VandenBerg Snow of Julie Snow Architects in Minneapolis, Minnesota is the keynote speaker.

In the United States, women represent about 50% of graduates from architecture programs, only 18% of licensed architects, and only 2% of firm owners. Our hope is that men, women, millennials, generationals, baby boomers, students, faculty and professionals will come together to share experiences, insights and strategies for improving the workplace and facilitating the professional growth of all.
