Equity mattersEveryone is welcome and encouraged to join NOMA-LA, regardless of race or ethnicity. As an organization, we advocate for fellowship, equity, and excellence in design. That mission can only be achieved through diversity, in who we serve but also in who we are as an organization. While the percentage of minorities in our profession is on the rise, only 3%* are African-American or Latinx as of 2016. Change will happen only when we provide support to underrepresented people of color and educate everyone on the importance of inclusion.

Why do race and gender matter in our profession? Here’s an article from KUT in Austin about the importance of building a diverse architectural community: http://kut.org/post/these-black-women-hope-build-diversity-within-austins-architect-community

Project Pipeline Workshops Final Showcase

The Project Pipeline kicked off it's second year of the workshop series. Over the past few months, students at SciAcademy, Kids Rethink New Orleans Schools, and Urban League College Track have been introduced to the rigorous process of design through research, analysis, and first person interviews. Students used this process to become familiar with New Orleans neighborhoods such as Hollygrove, Treme, Florida, and Gert Town, prior to creating a design that responds to the existing conditions.

On May 12, they will be presenting their final projects and design process to local architects and community members. A reception will be held prior to the student presentations starting at 5pm. Presentations will begin at 6pm.

Join us for this special event by reserving your seat today. Admission is free and includes admission to the CAC galleries. Please consider making a donation online or at the door.
